Chocolate Pancakes!

I love cooking with alternatives to the normal white flour to add in more nutrients. In this recipe I used buckwheat flour. It's is a good source of protein, fibre and energy. Buckwheat does not contain gluten, so for people with gluten intolerances, buckwheat and buckwheat flour are great alternatives.


Heres what you'll need:

Chocolate Pancakes !

Pancake mix

2 cups buckwheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 spoons cacao

2 + 1/4 cups oat milk ( any milk works)

3 spoons maple syrup / honey


  1. Start off by mixing in all the dry ingredients.

  2. Add the milk & honey and mix well.

  3. Heat a non stick pan over medium heat and transfer some of the mixture into it.

  4. Cook on both sides.

  5. Use any toppings you like for your pancake filling. I used fresh Maltese strawberries, cashew butter* and hazelnuts.

* To make your own cashew butter at home, roast cashews for 10 minutes then blend till nice and creamy !
